      The Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts this month gave a total of $768,500 in grant funding to area nonprofits, including $513,100 to organizations in Hampden County. Grants went to 45 projects in the Pioneer Valley, the foundation said. "The grant awards range from $2,500-$25,000 and address community needs in the areas of arts and culture, education, the environment, health, housing, economic development, and human services for residents of Hampden, Hampshire and Franklin counties," a statement from the foundation said. "Grants support existing programs and new programs that promote the mission of a local nonprofit."
