      Westfield's Savage Arms sale to ATK for $315 million finalized

      Defense contractor and ammunition maker ATK has completed its $315-million purchase Savage Sports Corp. and Savage Arms, according to an announcement released Monday.  The deal, first announced in May, makes Savage part of a conglomerate with $469 million in profits last year. ATK, created in 1990 when Honeywell spun off its defense business, will put Savage with its existing Sporting Group.

      Eastman Chemical to convert coal boiler at former Solutia plant to gas

      Eastman said in its news release that this natural gas conversion project is expected to eliminate sulfur dioxide and hydrogen chloride emissions as well as reduce the boiler’s nitrogen oxide emissions by 70 percent and particulate matter emissions by 55 percent. This conversion is also expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from this boiler by 40 percent, which is the equivalent of eliminating the greenhouse gas emissions from 9,250 cars.
