    United Technologies Corp. expects to eliminate 3,000 employees from its overall work force this year and close 1.85 million square feet of building space, the company says in its annual report.  UTC, based in Hartford, did not indicate where the job cuts and closings may be made. Its major Connecticut holdings include Pratt & Whitney, the former Hamilton Sundstrand in Windsor Locks, now part of UTC Aerospace Systems, and Sikorsky Aircraft.
