January 14, 2010 Naval Research Lab Presentation
From the EDC (Dec 22 2009) Aerospace/Defense
-
Allan Blair, EDC President and CEO, and Keith Parent, Chairman of the RTC Board of Directors, invite you to a presentation by the Commanding Officeer of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL), Paul Stewart, in Springfield on January 14. Commander Stewart will talk about the research conducted by the NRL and discuss ways in which area researchers and businesses can partner or engage with the NRL. The NRL (www.nrl.navy.mil and www.nrl.navy.mil/content.php?P=DOINGBUSINESS), is engaged in both pure and applied research and product and prototype development across a wide range of areas from nano and biotech to sensors, lasers, fluid dynamics, marine biology to studies of solar radiation and deep space astronomy. One description is they cover everything from "crabs to the Crab Nebulae". They are the 4th largest research institution (in terms of patents held) in the United States. Much of the research they do is in partnership with other institutions and about 70% of the technology they develop is transferrable to the private sector. Mark you calendars, and join us for this informative presentation.
