From the EDC (Jan 12 2012) Manufacturing
-
The EDC will host “New Market Opportunities for Photonics and Fiber Optics Companies” on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at 4:00 at the Springfield Technology Park. This will be the first in a series of presentations to be scheduled over the next several months focused on opportunities for manufacturing clusters we have identified as having growth potential for the region. Here is a link to the invitation, including RSVP information -- http://www.westernmassedc.com/photonics2012/
The series was spawned by the “Economic Development and Business Attraction Planning” report completed by CWS Consulting Group -- http://www.westernmassedc.com/cwsreport/ -- with the support of Western Mass Electric Co. Chris Steele, Principal of CWS, will present on each industry sector at these events. An executive from Corning Optical Fiber will present the keynote address at the Photonics event and a panel of industry executives from Massachusetts and Connecticut (Including Prima Electro North America from Chicopee) will participate in a roundtable discussion. A networking reception will follow. EDC President and CEO Allan W. Blair will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The EDC is pleased to collaborate with the New England Fiberoptic Council and the Connecticut Optics and Photonics Association in hosting this session. The EDC especially wishes to thank the Presenting Sponsor of the series, First Niagara Bank, and its First Vice President – Regional Team Leader Joseph Shaw.
The series will also include sessions focused on plastics, medical devices, specialized manufacturing and aerospace/defense. If anyone is interested in finding out more about this event or to recommend sites or panelists for future events, please contact EDC Senior VP Michael Graney at m.graney@westernmassedc.com or 413-755-1300.
