1. The numbers this year for the Eastern States Exposition were as big as the fair itself. Beside record attendance and record revenues, the tonnage of culinary concoctions ingested by the nearly 1.3 million visitors during the 17-day run that ended Sunday was awe inspiring: 55,000 pounds of fried dough, more than 800,000 ounces of Coca-Cola - even 4,000 bowls of cream of broccoli soup.
