UMass has come a long way from IBM machines with 64 kilobytes of memory. The university boasts a completely wireless campus this year, as well as plans to engage in high-tech research with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard, Boston University and Northeastern University at an $80 million supercomputing facility currently being built in downtown Holyoke.
