ThermoSuit Body-cooling System Wins Medical Design Excellence Award
From the EDC (Sep 3 2009) Medical Devices
-
Dielectrics, Inc. announced that it is named supplier for a 2009 Medical Design Excellence Award winning product.
The winning product is the ThermoSuit body-cooling system which cools the core temperature of cardiac arrest, stroke, or heart attack victims to 33°C in 20 minutes or less. When cooled, vital organs operate more slowly and require less oxygen reducing the chance of brain or heart damage. At inception, Life Recovery Systems looked to Dielectrics, Inc. for the design and construction of a practical and disposable device to submerge heart attack patients in cold, recirculating water. Dielectrics, Inc., in collaboration with Life Recovery Systems, manufactured a device made of multiple TPU film layers and bellow-like construction which when inflated makes a body-size tub complete with a gravity-fed fluid circuit.
Dielectrics, Inc. is located in Chicopee, MA where it employs approximately 175 designers, engineers, and manufacturing personnel. The company specializes in the design, development, and fabrication of OEM medical products and components using flexible thermoplastic films and film/fabric laminates. The company also operates Class 10,000 and Class 100,000 production facilities and is ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2000 certified.
