The EDC Congratulates WMDC

1. The EDC is enthused that our affiliated partner, Westover Metropolitan Development Corporation (“WMDC”), closed on the acquisition of 57 acres of land from the City of Chicopee yesterday. This acquisition is a key piece of WMDC’s new Air Park South development, which will ultimately assemble over 100 contiguous acres. A site this size will allow the EDC to market the region for large-scale projects, which by themselves can employ 1,000-1,500 people, generating a sizable economic impact. The recent Home Depot deal in Westfield took 70 acres of the 110 available at Campanelli Business Park off the market, so WMDC’s acquisition and assemblage of Air Park South will quickly replace it on a regional basis. This acquisition portends good news for future economic development.
