Springfield MA-- Associated Industries of Massachusetts (“AIM”) and the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts (“EDC”) are hosting a Logistics Conference on Tuesday, March 29 at the Sheraton Springfield hotel. The Conference features Keynote Speaker Curtis Spencer, President of IMS Worldwide, a site selection and supply chain management consultant to multinational firms. Other speakers represent air, sea and rail facilities around the northeastern U.S. Attendees will learn how our regional logistics capacity connects to and supports the global supply chain. The Conference is targeted to manufacturers, distribution and 3PL firms, economic developers, planners and transportation officials in New England and eastern New York State.
AIM President and CEO Rick Lord commented that “Many of our members are active importers and exporters, but acknowledge that they do not understand how their products move through the New England, national and global logistics system. AIM believes that this conference will be informative and provide opportunities for cost savings.” EDC President and CEO Allan W. Blair added that “The EDC has noted an increased importance placed on transportation costs by companies considering expansions and new investments. We believe that ongoing improvements to New England transportation facilities will make the region more competitive.”
The Conference is being sponsored by U.S. Trust, a division of Bank of America. The engineering firm GZA and the Hartford-Springfield Economic Partnership are supporting sponsors. Registration is available at http://www.aimnet.org/AM/template.cfm?section=Login_Logout&template=/security/login.cfm&CFID=3173021&CFTOKEN=93816624 or by contacting AIM or the EDC. The cost of the conference is $25.
