Unemployment Insurance Position

1. On Friday, February 11, 2011 Mary Ellen Scott, President of United Personnel Services and an EDC and ACCGS Board member, presented the Legislative agenda at the Chambers Outlook program in front of 650 business leaders, Governor Patrick, Congressman Neal and over fifteen of our state legislative delegation.  One item she pressed for was a freezing of the Unemployment Insurance tax and changes to the overall program.  A bill freezing the UI rates was signed by Governor Patrick one week later on February 18, 2011, a victory for all of our business members.  Now we will work on those changes to the system that are also needed in order to moderate this high cost of doing business here.
