    Xiomara DeLobato Named New Chief of Staff for the EDC

    The Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts welcomes Xiomara Albán DeLobato as their new Chief of Staff. With over a decade of experience in the public and private sphere, DeLobato has been a steadfast advocate for equitable access to economic and academic growth and opportunity in the region.

    A Springfield native, she has dedicated her career and community involvement to serve as an active change agent in Western Mass, most recently in leading the charge to develop a robust recruitment and enrollment plan for the Office of Admissions at UMass Amherst with a focus on recruiting a diverse pool of applicants while addressing the shifting racial and economic demographics of the state.  She previously served in leadership roles at Elms College, Springfield College, and the University of New Hampshire – as well as, professional experiences with the Office of Mayor Domenic Sarno and Office of Congressman Richard Neal. DeLobato also serves as an active board member for the Springfield Public Forum, Girl's Inc. of the Valley, and trustee for Veritas Prep Charter School.

    DeLobato will be working closely with president and CEO, Rick Sullivan, the EDC staff, and key regional stakeholders to develop and execute the vision, strategies, and tactics of the EDC’s strategic plan, with a focus on economic and workforce development programs that will stimulate and facilitate a vigorous regional economy, encouraging and sustaining capital investment and quality job growth for Western Massachusetts.
