    Holyoke Medical Center took a $6-million-a-month budget hit from the coronavirus pandemic as expenses mounted and people stopped going in for other types of care. Spiros Hatiras, the hospital’s president and CEO, said Wednesday that Holyoke was nearly able to fill the gap with $3 million in cost cutting, including employee furloughs, and with aid from the state and federal government.
