Common Capital is a non-profit organization, providing financing to businesses and non-profits located in western Massachusetts.  We have an online application for a fast-turn around micro loan called a Fast Track as well as traditional loan packaging for businesses.   Our business assistance program offers a combination of private one to one, in person and virtual training with our in house business assistance provider as well as with regional experts.  We also have small group coaching a webinar platforms making training available to people in a wide geographic range.

We work closely with regional resource partners and area industry experts to connect small business owners with well vetted consultants and quality business service providers.  Our efforts to collaborate with SCORE, the MASBDC, regional community colleges as well as Mass Development and RiseUp! Springfield has helped improve both the collaboration of regional organizations and the accessibility of training for small business owners.

On average we are serving thirty two businesses monthly at about eleven hour per borrower.  Owners are improving their financial management as well as operational and management skills.  We see an increase in bookkeeping, financial statement literacy, marketing skills as well as strategic planning capacity.   In the past five years 50% of our borrowers have been women business owners and 58% have been low-income individuals from underserved communities.  Our lending has helped fill vacant store fronts in Springfield as well as empty warehouses in Wilbraham, Ludlow and Holyoke.
