Springfield preps image campaign: 'This is our story. If we don't tell our story, no one else will.'

It will take up to $2 million to fund an "image campaign" promoting the city both here and across the Northeast, officials said in a fundraising pitch Thursday. "This is our story. If we don't tell our story, no one else will," said Mayor Domenic J. Sarno. "It's not smoke and mirrors. This is real good news we have to share." Kevin Kennedy, the city's chief economic development officer, pointed to economic development in the city that includes the new CRRC rail car plant in East Springfield.
