    Restaurant, apartment complex planned for vacant University Drive site in Amherst

    Developer Barry Roberts is planning to build a 3,660-square-foot restaurant and a 26-unit, three-building apartment complex on vacant land near Newmarket Center on University Drive. He is seeking a special permit for both projects. Hearings resume before the Zoning Board of Appeals at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 The land is owned by former Amherst residents Mohammad and Shakeela Yasmeen Idress. Roberts plans to build a restaurant that will be operated by Jerry Jolly, who owns the Pub and Rafters, said lawyer Thomas Reidy.
