    Springfield City Council approves $1.6 million for Riverfront Park improvement

    The City Council voted unanimously Monday to approve a $1.6 million bond for improvements to Riverfront Park just one week after the bond failed to pass a week ago when some questions and concerns were raised about other city parks. The 12-0 vote allows for plans to proceed for a $3 million improvement project at Riverfront Park that is located along the east bank of the Connecticut River in the downtown area.
