    The Connecticut Airport Authority Announcement

The Connecticut Airport Authority is proud to announce that, after a year of major developments, Bradley International Airport has been rated as the 5th best airport in the nation in the Condé Nast Traveler’s 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards. The highly regarded travel magazine recently completed its 30th annual reader survey, which incorporated ratings from over 300,000 travelers.

This distinction comes on the heels of a number of major developments at Bradley. Last year, the CAA launched new nonstop service Dublin, Ireland via Aer Lingus, as well as nonstop LAX service via American, Denver service via United, and Pittsburgh service via OneJet. The reestablishment of transatlantic service was an especially important step for the region, conveniently connecting area business and leisure travelers to major destinations across Europe. Service development continued into 2017, as Norwegian launched new nonstop service to Edinburgh, Scotland, United began service to San Francisco, and Spirit Airlines (the airport’s first ultra-low cost carrier) announced service to Myrtle Beach and a variety of Floridian destinations. In 2016, Bradley served over 6,000,000 passengers, and the airport has experienced nearly five years of year-over-year passenger growth.

In addition to new services, the CAA has also invested in the airport to provide a more enjoyable experience for its customers. Recent concessions launches include Two Roads Brewery and Philips Seafood locations. The airport also opened a new duty-free shop, as well as an Escape Lounge, which is a common-use passenger lounge that offers unlimited food and beverage, high-speed WiFi, and a relaxing atmosphere for a daily rate. The CAA has also installed new seating and charging stations on the public side of the terminal facilities, and it has announced over $5 million of upcoming investments into renovating all public restroom facilities at the airport. Additional terminal enhancements are planned in the near future to ensure that Bradley’s facilities continue to meet and exceed the expectations of regional travelers.

The CAA thanks all of its loyal travelers for using Bradley and helping the airport achieve its status as one of the top airports in the country. Stay tuned for further developments as our region’s airport of choice continues to grow.
