    Study finds improving rail service is top transit priority for Western Mass. residents

    Ask a Massachusetts resident how to get across the state and the answer, in many cases, is "You can't get there from here." At least not easily, and not using public transportation. A group of Massachusetts senators asked residents what transportation improvements are most important to them. The answer in Western Massachusetts was similar to the answer around the state: residents want improved rail service, followed by better buses. "Whatever region people came from, people saw as a top mobility priority regional rail," said Jim Aloisi, a former state transportation secretary who worked on the Senate study.
