    Arts in Massachusetts employs 150,000, generates $1.4 billion in income | masslive.com

    The arts in Massachusetts are a booming business, according to two extensive studies released Monday.  The studies found the nonprofit arts industry in Massachusetts supports 73,000 jobs. And the total creative economy -- which also includes jobs like web designers, music teachers and jewelers -- employs 150,000 people.  Nonprofit arts organizations generated $1.4 billion in household income and more than $2.2 billion of economic activity in 2015.  'Arts and creativity are major economic drivers,' said James Canales, president of the Barr Foundation, a philanthropic foundation that funds the arts and paid for the studies.
