    U.S. Rep. Richard Neal announces $5.4 million in federal grants for Springfield

    U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, D-Springfield, said Friday that Springfield will receive four federal grants totaling approximately $5.4 million for housing programs for low- and moderate-income residents and related services. Neal and Mayor Domenic J. Sarno announced the grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on the steps of City Hall. Under HUD's Community Planning and Development Program, the city will receive $5,392,632. The city annually gets HUD funds for housing and homeless assistance.
