    Musicians to play lunch-hour concerts on downtown Springfield's painted pianos

    Beginning on Wednesday, local professional pianists will be playing the painted pianos in downtown Springfield, as part of an initiative spearheaded by the Springfield Central Cultural District.  Live pianists will be playing the pianos, located at 1350 Main St., the Shops at the Marketplace, and 1550 Main St., from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday. Residents, employees, and visitors to Springfield have recently been treated to a series of unusual art installations in the downtown area. Three beautiful, mural-sized upright pianos were decorated by local residents and placed throughout the Springfield Central Cultural District in early June.
