Chicopee expects $60M in investment with 2 hotels, US Tsubaki expansion, Mercedes-Benz dealership

In the past year building permits were taken out for more than $31 million in projects in the city, leaving Mayor Richard J. Kos and city councilors celebrating groundbreaking and ribbon cuttings one after the other. It was announced that the closed Plantation Inn would be razed and replaced with a Mercedes Benz dealership off Burnett Road. And U.S. Tsubaki announced it would build a 100,000-square-foot addition to its plant on Lonczak Street. Although very different developments, both projects call for an investment of about $11.5 million and each will create a minimum of 35 jobs.
