    Knapik served n the state Senate for 18 years, beginning in 1995, and was a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee. He resigned in 2013 to take a job as director of advancement, alumni and university relations at Westfield State University. He is also executive director of Westfield State Foundation, the university's fundraising arm.
