    Interstate 91 viaduct reconstruction expected to be finished by late fall of 2017; lane closures to begin early next year

    Massachusetts Department of Transportation predicted Thursday that the Interstate 91 viaduct over downtown Springfield will be repaired and returned to driver's full use in the late fall of 2017 if construction on the $183.3 million project continues on its current pace. That pace means that the first substantial construction  -- work involving long-term lane and highway exit shutdowns -- will begin in December or January.
