    Holyoke celebrates return of passenger train service with $4.3 million station platform

    Passenger train service was welcomed back to Holyoke Thursday (Aug. 27) after 50 years. "There is no doubt that Holyoke is on the map. We've been on the map, and today, even more so," Mayor Alex B. Morse said. State and local officials cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the new, $4.3 million Holyoke Passenger Rail Platform at Depot Square, Main and Dwight streets, where Amtrak will make two stops a day -- one northbound, one southbound.
