UMass Amherst hosts conference encouraging minority teenagers to consider career in nursing

The University of Massachusetts College of Nursing will host about 300 students from Springfield, West Springfield, Chicopee, Holyoke, Northampton and some from Brooklyn, New York for a Nursing Orientation & Celebration Conference at the Campus Center on March 28, according to Carmen Rosa, coordinator for the Achieving Diversity Initiative. "Increasing Workforce Diversity in Nursing is a project sponsored by the University of Massachusetts, Amherst College of Nursing. The principal investigator Dr. Jean Swinney wrote the grant and secured approximately $1 million.
