    Gov. Deval Patrick: 'Water innovation the next frontier'; UMass Amherst professor receives $4.1 million EPA grant for drinking water research

    University of Massachusetts Amherst researcher has received a $4.1 million Environmental Protection Agency grant to create a national research center aimed at assisting small-sized drinking water systems. David A. Reckhow, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, accepted the grant at a ceremony Monday. Under the EPA grant, the UMass Water Innovation Network for Sustainable Small Systems (WINSS) will develop and test advanced, low-cost methods to reduce, control and eliminate various groups of water contaminants in small water treatment systems.
