    Holyoke Early Literacy Initiative wins 2014 Gateway Cities Innovation award

    MassINC announced the awards earlier this week, said they're made to organizations and individuals that develop interesting models to grow the economies of gateway cities in Massachusetts. HELI is an effort by Holyoke Public Schools to increase early literacy rates in the city. "We do this by organizing parents, community partners and the schools to focus on attendance, instruction, family engagement and Kindergarten Readiness," the group said in a statement.
