The University of Massachusetts at Amherst and two other sites it operates in the eastern part of the state stand to reap $37.5 million for various projects and improvements, thanks to a bill signed into law by Gov. Deval Patrick. The legislation authorizes a total of $1.9 billion for environmental projects throughout the state. Among those is $4 million for water quality innovation to support the work of David Reckhow, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at UMass. The funding will go towards testing and pilot facilities for water technology at various locations in the state.
