Gov. Deval Patrick signs economic development bill, introduces new bill on liquor licenses | masslive.com
Gov. Deval Patrick on Wednesday signed an $80 million economic development bill into law, but vetoed tax credits for live theater and angel investors. Patrick, a Democrat, also reintroduced legislation with two provisions he supports that were not included in the bill – limiting non-compete agreements and giving local municipalities control over the number of liquor licenses they can issue. 'There is more I want,' Patrick said. 'But that is not to take away from an enormously important piece of legislation that was thoughtfully and successfully crafted by the legislature.'
