    New Springfield downtown study calls for focus on dining, culture, housing

    The “Worthington Street District Plan” was revealed Wednesday during a presentation at Kimball Towers on Chestnut Street, attended by city officials, business representatives and other downtown activists. The $200,000 study was commissioned by the city and DevelopSpringfield, funded by Columbia Gas in the aftermath of a gas explosion on Worthington Street in November 2012 that caused millions of dollars in damage in that area and injured 21 people.
