    Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau laments Supreme Judicial Court ruling on casino

    The Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau issued a statement Wednesday, saying it is “incredibly disappointed” by a state Supreme Judicial Court ruling that requires a statewide referendum vote on casinos. “The anti-gaming repeal effort has questioned the importance of Springfield's voice, and the integrity of the legislative process,” said Mary Kay Wydra, the bureau’s president in a prepared release. “We compete with our neighboring states for tourism dollars, and having MGM Springfield in our market provides us with a competitive advantage in the race for those dollars to boost the Massachusetts economy.”
