    Springfield officials laud new $1.29 million grant for new skills training center at Forest Park

    David Cruise, president and chief executive officer of the Regional Employment Board, said he is “excited” about the program and is optimistic about the employment opportunities it will create. It will particularly target residents in poorer neighborhoods and in high unemployment areas, he said. Through partnerships, the city will offer educational workshops, employee training courses and programs, and business management seminars, according to the grant announcement.
