Springfield to receive nearly $3 million to aid 2 underperforming schools

The city is in line to receive nearly $3 million to help turn around two underperforming schools. According to a press release from the office of Gov. Deval Patrick Thursday, more than $9 million in federal funding has been awarded to six underperforming schools in Springfield, Boston, Fall River and New Bedford. In Springfield, $1.5 million will go to the High School of Science and Technology and $1.4 million to the Milton Bradley Elementary School.
