Western Mass Firms Encounter Success at Medical Device Show

1. Last week, I attended the Medical Design and Manufacturing (“MD&M”) conference in New York City. In addition to representing the region from a corporate attraction perspective, the EDC worked with the Precision Manufacturing Regional Alliance Project and Western Mass Electric Co/Northeast Utilities to host companies from western Mass in the Team New England pavilion. This initiative was a success on many fronts. First, the companies enjoyed a productive show and generated new leads that they are working diligently to close. Second, the companies demonstrated significant cooperation with each other and other western Mass firms exhibiting at, or attending, the show. The EDC will immediately inaugurate a marketing campaign to fill the majority of the space with western Mass firms. Fourth, this success is encouraging to the EDC and our partners as we contemplate expanding the initiative to additional industries and geographic regions.
