    New report: 21 to 39 percent of Massachusetts health care spending is wasteful

    Dr. Mark Keroack, president and CEO of Baystate Medical Center, said the figures seem to be in line with previous studies. Keroack said he believes some of the problems are being addressed through new initiatives under the Affordable Care Act that aim to change payment models from paying for individual services to paying for outcomes. That can reduce the number of unnecessary, and potentially costly and harmful, procedures.
