    Westfield State University's $2 million for science center recommended for release

    “Restoring the $2 million appropriation is a vote of confidence in the future of the university and most importantly, in the students of Massachusetts who will benefit from access to a state-of-the-art science facility,” university spokeswoman Molly C. Watson said in a written statement thanking Freeland.
    The $2 million was the first amount approved to build a $48 million science and technology building, the first academic building in 40 years at the university. Construction is expected to begin next year.
