Massachusetts Cultural Council approves new cultural district in Springfield as suggested names are narrowed

The Massachusetts Cultural Council on Friday approved the city’s request to create a cultural district in the heart of Springfield, geared to promote local attractions and expand opportunities. “I’m just thrilled,” said Kay Simpson, vice president of the Springfield Museums, a participant in the cultural district effort. “It’s really exciting and I am looking forward to what this will mean for the arts and culture of Springfield.”
