Chicopee businesses discuss downtown improvements, call for walking police patrol

Downtown business owners pushed for a stronger police presence in the city’s center during a regular meeting Thursday to discuss improvements and problems in the center. About 30 people, most of them small business owners, gathered with Mayor Michael D. Bissonnette and a number of department heads. They discussed a wide variety of issues including upcoming work on sidewalks and parking lot paving, a Halloween parade and plans to get cleaning crews on the city streets.
