Dielectrics Hosts Medical Device Briefing

1. Earlier this week, Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown chose Dielectrics in Chicopee to host a roundtable discussion with area medical device manufacturing companies. Senator Brown's visit focused on the medical device tax in the recently passed U.S. health care reform bill. The EDC did not take a position on the health care bill and we do not have a position on Senator Brown's comments. However, we are pleased that the industry in the region was able to garner publicity and that Dielectrics in particular was recognized as a premier manufacturing facility. The EDC believes that the medical device industry can be a growth engine for western Massachusetts. We acknowledge the thriving companies in the region and we rely on them to help us expand the cluster. Congratulations to Dielectrics and, by extension, to the other successful companies in the western Mass medical device cluster.
